Team Deluxe, Wrists, and Rhodes

June 15, 2008 · 3 Comments

I can finally say that the first camp is over and in a word it was AWESOME!!!! God moved in so many of the teens lives this week. Not only did some teens decide to make Christ part of their lives, others decided to bold for Christ and began thinking of ways to serve Christ even when the emotional experience of camp is over. The campers were pretty awesome! One of my guys decided he liked my name so he stole it. Another group just embraced me and wanted to get to know me and spend time with me, which meant a lot. The speaker was awesome and the worship band Atlantic was pretty amazing to, they led some really good worship times.

I know by now you are wondering what is up with the title of this post well I will start with the first part of the title.  Our team was so fortunate to be at the camp with a team from IWU, and they were amazing people of God. I can not say enough good things about them. As soon as we met them we meshed and basically became one team (that is where Team Deluxe comes in). We did skits together and were team leaders together for the whole time that we were at camp. They were awesome and made us feel like we were one them and I hope they felt the same about us! It was really hard to say goodbye to them, but it was good to know that our team found some good brothers and sisters in Christ.

Now on the wrists. Team Deluxe decided to do the Everything skit by Lifehouse (look it up on youtube). During the skit one of the team members fell and broke their wrists. So that ended with a hospital visit, which ended up being bonding time for two of the members of ISWU ministry team.

Now Rhodes, As we were riding through Indiana going to take Katie to a host home we noticed the Wesleyan Church Headquarters, so I texted Deborah Rhodes and told her. Which was proceeded by some hangout time with the Rhodes. Which was amazing, I was so glad to see them. They even let us do our laundry at their house which we were EXTREMELY thankful for. Deborah and Matt are the bomb diggity.

Anyways there will be a more detailed description of the first camp later. It is late and I have been driving for 7 hours and it is time for bed.

We made it!!!!

June 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

After a nearly twelve hour day of being on the road! We are finally in Indiana! We are in a hotel for the night and we will make the short drive to camp in the morning. I am so excited and ready to finally see what this experience is going to look like.

Also, please pray for us as we found out two days ago that we will have to perform dramas twice a day for the duration of camp. We have found dramas and please pray that we make really good and that they will speak to the hearts of teens.

One more thing, pray for the Africa team as they are flying back in a couple of days. Brittany is one of people coming from Africa, and is one of my teammates. Please pray for her as she does not have much time to rest before she joins us. I  can’t wait for our team to be complete.

That is all I have! thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

About to Leave

June 5, 2008 · 2 Comments

Packing for being away from home for two months has not proven to be as difficult as I thought it would be. The thought has finally set in that I am leaving and  the feeling of not knowing what next is upon me. But I suppose that is good! Sometimes it is best to see what the experience is going to bring you rather than trying to figure it out. I have been praying that God protects all teams on our trips, and that the hearts of the people we get an opportunity to minister will be open to what God is going do. Right now I am finishing some last minute things and waiting until the sun goes down before I head up the road, because it is HOT outside, and I don’t have air conditioning.

Anyways, in a short few days the teams will be loading up in vans and leaving for ourcamps. Indiana is our first destination. My team is going all over and I am so excited! I have always wanted to travel and take a road trip to see different parts of the country, and I finally have the chance to do it.  I also want to thank all the previous ministry team people for their advice, it will be put to good use!

Take care and check back to see how my journey

Summer Plans

June 2, 2008 · 2 Comments

One of the reasons why I decided to do a blog was to keep people updated with what I will be doing this summer. This summer I will be on one of the SWU recreation ministry teams. What that means is that when we go to camps we do whatever the camps wants us to do. Whether it is being a camp counselor, working in the kitchen, working security, or any other random job that needs to be done. I am very excited and nervous about this summer because I have never traveled so much in such a small amount of time. Below is a schedule of where we will be going each week. Please pray for safe travels and that we allow God to use us to further his kingdom. Here is the schedule:

6/8 – 6/13 Indiana Central District   Frankfort, IN

6/15 – 6/21 TN District Youth Jamestown, TN

6/21 – 6/29 Sharon Center Holiness Camp Ohio

6/30 – 7/5 NOT AVAILABLE

7/6-7/10 Parkway Wesleyan Church Sophia, NC

7/14 – 7/18 Never The Same Camp Houghton, NY

7/21 – 7/25 Never The Same Camp Houghton, NY

7/25 – 8/3 Denton Wesleyan Camp Denton, MD

Thank you in advance for you prayers. I will try to update you all after each camp, but I can’t guarantee that it will happen. But check back for updates! Take care all!
